Senior Quantity Surveyor - £360 million project - C.London - to £55k + Excellent Package
Our client is one of the largest specialist civil engineering contractors in the UK and also a major name worldwide. They require a Senior Quantity Surveyor with Structural Steel, Rail + Bridge experience for a major civil engineering project in Central London. The project is Rail biased so the ideal candidate will have worked for a blue chip Main Contractor and have previous exposure to the rail environment.
Responsibilities
- To develop and deliver, in conjunction with the construction team, a robust programme + budget.
- Support the project team in all commercial matters.
- Be proactive in promoting team working and partnering
- Set up administration systems.
- Ensure timely submission of Valuations
- Ensure cash flow is maximised including ensuring payments are received on time.
- Produce cash flow forecasts and keep updated.
- Preparation and submission of monthly cost value reconciliation.
- Manage the commercial aspects of sub-contract accounts
- Ensure the accurate and timely evaluation and agreement of final quantities, revised and additional items, rates and Compensation Events.
- Produce Margin forecast based on contract programme. Monitor and update forecast during contract currency.
- Set up systems for the assessment, recording and management of risk.
- Identify additional entitlement under the contract including the monitoring of daily records.
- Monitor and liaise with Project Manager / Agent on progress.
- Ensure materials reconciliation is undertaken.
- To successfully delegate commercial activities to other members of the team as appropriate
- Ensure that good records are kept in order that the full entitlement under the contract is achieved.
Requirements
- Must have experience managing complex structural steel packages, preferably bridge work
- Previous experience on major civil engineering projects
- Main Contractor Experience
- Solid work history
- Working knowledge of JCT and it's sub-contracts
- Must have a thorough understanding of ECC + ICE forms of Contract (inc ICE NR12)
- Must possess excellent negotiating skills
- Must have IT skills with a particular emphasis on spreadsheets
- Have a working knowledge of site programmes and recognise the commercial implications of change
- Understanding of computerised cost recording systems
- Working knowledge of database systems
- Ideally HNC/HND or degree qualified
