Our client is one of the UK's largest waste management companies; they are a leading independent player in the European market who employ in excess of 3000 people based at 100 sites. The group offers a wide and innovative range of waste management solutions within its various collection, transport, recovery, recycling, treatment, disposal, remediation and local authority contracts.
This position will be based in Milton Keynes managing the procurement process, placing of orders, managing supply chain members on both PFI and non PFI capital works. They require support on a wide range of projects from business plan to completion, through to handover to the operational team. This will cover both large and small engineering projects within the current operational contracts.
The successful candidate will work with all involved to assess the financial, legal and environmental impacts of proposed developments and will have responsibility for managing the procurement process and supply chain management and in conjunction with the project manager will ensure that the project procurement administration is well ordered and well managed.
The main duties will include but not be limited to:
- Assisting in the Project 'Gateway' governance process
- Produce and manage procurement reports which include pre tender, tender reviews and post tender reports and recommendations
- Assist in ensuring that Project Controls are adhered to on each project
- Ensure project orders are delivered on time to the agreed scope and on budget
- Manage the supply chain framework for contractors, consultants and suppliers and to implement and ensure a regular performance review of each category
- To assist in the formulation of project scopes and tenders and participate in selection of suppliers and contractors
- Provide monthly progress reports covering costs, packages tendered, and orders placed
- Be responsible for ensuring project procurement administration is undertaken
- Assist in post project evaluation to capture lessons learnt, best practice
- Support current project and engineering teams facilitating discussion and process development
Candidates will need to be qualified to degree standards or equivalent in procurement with a successful track record of managing procurement and supply chain management on small to medium projects covering both construction + civils as well as plant and equipment
Due to the nature of the work you will require excellent communication and decision making skills and be quick to learn + acquire knowledge. You will need to be able to work as part of an emerging team, be self motivated, confident, able to think around problems/issues and needing to see them in both the narrow and broad contexts which they may be presented. You will be capable of communicating and managing from shop floor to senior management. Excellent managerial and organisational skills are essential. A valid driving licence is a requirement.
