Core Purpose of job:
To provide special electrical engineering skills and services to the operations division. To provide standards and specifications for the design and implementation of electrical works that meet globally recognised standards for the Electrical Engineering and good engineering practice at the site. To assist in the competency assessment of electrical staff and the provision of identified training. To conduct energy and system (Electrical Infrastucture)audits, identification of risk and saving.
Areas of Responsibility
•To provide a safe and flexible electrical infrastructure meeting the growth of the business
•Sign off on design of all new electrical systems for plant expansions and modification requirements. Advisor to projects and site engineering
•Technical evaluation of electrical vendors
•Evaluation of all contractor proposals to ensure full technical compliance
•Audit engineers/managers to ensure contractors work to comply with company standards
•Sign off equipment to ensure design, safety in operation and maintenance fully compliant
•Sign off on method statements for all major works
•Assist managers with the technical assessment of their electrical staffand identification of training improvements
•Routine audit of planned maintenance procedures for the electrical infrastructure
•Conduct energy audits identifying opportunities for saving through the reduction of system faults, load shedding and production planning
•Advise project and engineering on suitable equipment, safety and installation methods
•Sign off method statements for major works
Person Specification
•Electrical Engineering Degree and a Practicing Professional Engineer
•10 years in electrical design operation and maintenance of large High & Medium voltage systems
•3 years in loss prevention / energy management
•5 years exposure with mutinational / multicultural staff
•Effective use of PC soft ware such as Powerpoint and MS project
•Personal motivation and drive
