Design Manager - Hertfordshire - BSF - Upto £60k + Package U2668
PROJECT Working on the BSF Hertfordshire framework which is due to enter its first phase early in 2009. You will be based on one of the schools as part of the framework.
RESPONSIBILITIES You will be the number one Design Manager on the scheme and will subsequently have some involvement in the preconstruction design phase. Once the project is live on site you will be the key liaison between the clients design team and the on site project team. You will be expected highlight any design issues and consequently to facilitate any changes to the design You will report into the framework Project Director and will also have a report to head office and the Technical Services Director.
EXPERIENCE
(a) Previous experience gained in a BSF design management role on a project valued at circa £15million +.
(b) Must have a minimum of 5 to 10 years design and build experience gained with a major building contractor.
(c) Proven track record of managing the full project design team including coordinators, Architects, Structural Engineers and M + E Contractors.
(e) Experience of leading the value management and value engineering process.
(f) Good design and implementation skills doer and influence.
(g) Innovative attitude.
CORE SKILL SET
(a) Comprehensive understanding of design issues pertaining to a major new build scheme.
(b) Proven track record of design management and coordination of Architects, Structural Designers and M + E subcontract Designers.
(c) Ability to understand, dissect and reassemble complex design information.
(d) Experience of leading design teams or as a design manager for a reputable Design and Build contractor.
(e) Excellent communication, organisational and influencing skills (both upstream and downstream).
